14 Bath Toys You Probably Have Around the House
My kids love bath time. They love splashing and playing in the water, creating bubbles and popping them, filling cups, and pouring water. Playing with bath toys is a great way to build fine motor skills and dexterity. The great thing is that you don’t have to spend a dime on them, as you likely have many around your house already. There’s also a simple trick for storing them that will keep your bathroom from looking like a toy tornado hit it. Here are 14 bath toys from around the house, and a simple and clever way to store them.
1. Plastic funnel
2. Old sippy cups
3. Plastic bowls
4. Yogurt containers (cleaned)
5. Plastic measuring cups
6. Bulb-style baster
7. Spray bottles
8. Plastic soda bottles (cleaned) – add a few drops of soap, fill with water, cover and shake and you’re kids will have tons of fun bubbles to pour
9. Ketchup/squeeze bottles (cleaned)
10. Plastic colander
11. Slotted spoons
12. Ladles
13. Sponge
14. Frisbee – use it upside-down beneath a cup when pouring so any overflow goes into the Frisbee and not on the floor
An Easy Way to Store Bath Toys
You want your kids’ bath toys to drain and dry off after each bath. You also want them neat and organized. A simple way to do this is by using a plastic bucket with a few holes poked in the bottom. You can use an ice pick or sharp knife to carefully poke about 6 or 7 holes in the bottom of it. Put the bucket on the side of your tub, then after each bath rinse and put the toys in the bucket. The holes allow the water to drain, and the bucket keeps everything tidy. As an added bonus, the bucket can double as a basketball goal.

I remember with my boys, I went out and bought so many different types of bath toys. When the girls arrived, cups and funnels were the way! 🙂 No need to spend so much money! Great post! #globalblogging
Love it! I have a bowl and a cup that he loves to pour water out of, he also loves his “Daah!” (Translation: duck). The soda bottle with bubbles inside is genius I’m going to try this tonight! Thanks for sharing with #StayClassyMama!
My little one loves sloted spoons! Great post!!
#AnythingGoes
Oh yeah, slotted spoons are the best! 🙂
Bath toys so gross me out and so your suggestions are awesome and they tend to clean up and not get all moldy like those dang squeaky toys! #happynowlinkup
EXACTLY! I completely agree – so gross… This has really helped with the gross factor and they’re fun and cheap!
Great suggestions – bath toys can be expensive and nothing beats the fun you can have with an old Fairy bottle!

Debbie
Precisely! I’m glad you like the ideas!
I have a 7, 10 and 12 year old. So why on earth do I STILL have bath toys in the bathroom (gathering dust)? Ugh. Lovely to meet you on my blog via your comment. #bloggerclubUK
So nice to meet you too! I could definitely get rid of a few things myself!
Awesome ideas. I remember when I was a kid and I was using plastic bottles and plastic cups:D I really loved that
#happynowlinkup
So often it’s the simplest things that bring us joy!
Ooh love the bucket tip! I end up piling everything in the sink #BloggerClubUK
Figuring out the bucket was one of my ‘aha moments’! lol 🙂
I was just looking at bath toys today and now I am taking your ideas! What a great list. Thanks for linking up with the #FabFridayPost
So glad you like it! It’s funny the amount of ‘toys’ we actually have around the house. Sure saves money!
Great idea, kids just love water play. I really like how you’ve used stuff available around the house and a great storage suggestion too. I had a large net that stuck to the tiles and that was great too. Thank you for linking up to #EatSleepBlogRT
You’re right, kids LOVE water play! We try to keep it interesting by incorporating new ‘toys’ – it’s fun to see how the kids use them. The net is a great idea too – easy for cleanup and allowing the toys to drain. We’ve turned the bucket into a toy and a storage container. Thanks for reading!
Some good ideas. I like the bucket idea too. We are starting to need some storage space for our bath toys. Thanks! #GlobalBlogging
Some great ideas there! I’m always looking for ways to get my daughter to actually enjoy her bath rather than screaming as soon as I put her into it. #GlobalBlogging
Ha! A screaming tiny naked person is never a good thing. We’ve brought so many random things to the bath, but hey, they keep the kids very entertained! Hope these help!
Great list 🙂 we often take stuff into the bath and it makes it so much more exciting! It also means that they stay in the bath longer and get more worn out 😉 #fabfridaypost
Exactttttlllllyyyyy… wear them out so they (hopefully) sleep better! And it’s just more fun!
These are really good ideas. I really like the bucket storage idea. I will be doing that. Thank you so much for linking up with us on #FabFridayPost
The bucket used as storage has been a great thing for us. I hate seeing toys all over the place, and this makes it easy peasy. 😀
Great ideas! I’ve been meaning to buy new bath toys for awhile as the little squirters get so yucky so easily…I like this idea much better! Cheaper and more eco-friendly. 😉 Thanks for sharing on #fabfridaypost!
I knw what you mean – those squirters are fun, but they do get nasty rather quickly. I hate when we forget to empty them and then I find out at the next bath time. Yuck! Things you already have are great to use instead, and you’re right they are SO MUCH CHEAPER and eco-friendly! Win-win!
Brilliant Kellie!

Why thank ya! I try…I try… lol
